Come and discover our Little Thinkers nursery at Penbridge Infant School.

July 3, 2026 12:41pm

Our new Little Thinkers nursery will be opening its doors on Saturday 18th July between 2pm-4pm, allowing parents to explore our warm, welcoming space at Penbridge Infant School.

We’ve recently benefited from a major expansion to our nursery, which now welcomes children aged from 9 months to 5-years-old. Thanks to the Government’s School Based Nurseries Programme, our Little Thinkers team have converted existing classroom space into a bright, vibrant learning environment where babies and toddlers can explore through play.

The team would now love to welcome parents and carers from across Fratton and the wider city of Portsmouth to their Open Event, where the rooms will be full of engaging activities for children to engage with. Little Thinkers nursery staff will also be on hand to answer any questions and provide support.

Alison Hill, Manager of Little Thinkers at Penbridge Infant School, expressed her excitement at sharing the transformation of our nursery space, and what makes it unique.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming families into Little Thinkers later this month so they can discover what makes our nursery special. We’ve got limited places available in our rooms and this Open Event is the perfect opportunity to see how your child’s learning journey could start with us.

“At Little Thinkers, we pride ourselves on providing a safe, nurturing environment filled with learning opportunities. We think big thoughts and provide wonderous experience to develop confidence, curiosity and resilience”.

Little Thinkers is a registered charity and small family of nurseries in Portsmouth, Devon and Kent. Proudly part of the Thinking Schools Academy Trust, all settings are ‘thinking nurseries’ which pride themselves in their motto ‘Lighting Up Learning’, rooted in a ‘curiosity approach’ with children at the centre of their development.

The trust’s ‘all through educational vision’ has been expanded following the opening of the nursery, so young people in Portsmouth have access to high-quality education from early years up until secondary school.

Sonia Nickerson leads on Little Thinkers across the Thinking Schools Academy Trust. She explained how Penbridge Infant School’s Open Event helps to showcase their values and vision to the wider community.

“Opening this nursery at Penbridge Infant School earlier this year has been a really exciting step for the growth of Little Thinkers, and the expansion of high-quality early years provision in Portsmouth.

“Our team are united in their passion to create a community where families feel supported, where children feel valued and inspired and where key workers respond to their individual needs. I know starting nursery can seem daunting for parents, but our team at Penbridge go above and beyond to ensure your child has a positive start and experience with us”.

Parents can just turn up on the afternoon, where the team can provide tours of the rooms, and answer any questions.
